Abstract
Pharmaceutical R&D is under pressure to move faster and make better, data-driven decisions-yet many labs remain constrained by aging, monolithic software.
At Roche pRED (pharma research & early development), LabEx is a multi-year, multi-million CHF program to replace an end-of-life lab notebook and workflow platform with a modern, modular ecosystem supporting the full end-to-end experiment lifecycle for over 1,000 biologists.
This talk shares real-world lessons from pRED Biology's shift from a single-platform mindset to an ecosystem approach, executed amid legacy constraints, global ELN platform harmonization, and ongoing organizational change. We will highlight what worked, what didn't, and how sustained business engagement and governance proved critical to turning architectural ambition into operational reality.
